Family Emergency Shelter

Facilities

Families, including single women, experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk can stay up to six months while receiving supportive services.

The Shelter is a 5-Room/30-Bed facility. The program is structured, and drug and alcohol free. The ultimate goal of the Shelter program is to successfully exit all participating families into transitional or permanent housing with the skills, resources and support they need to have stability, plan for their futures, pursue happiness and thrive under a roof of their own.

While living in the FES, parents participate in Case Management meetings at least once a week and set individualized goals for their family. Goals typically include those related to self-care & emotional stability, mental health and substance abuse, employment and education, parenting skills, personal financial management/budgeting/credit repair, savings for move in and housing costs.

The Three Pillars of Self-Sufficiency:

In addition to housing, PVSS employs a highly effective program model for all participants that consists of workshops, classes, counseling, and case management that form the “Three Pillars” of self-sufficiency for families experiencing homelessness.

Emotional Stability

Emotional Stability

Many parents suffer from emotional instability as adults caused by adverse experiences as children (ACEs). The ACEs and Family Strengthening program helps families to build resilience.

Financial Stability

Financial Stability

Financial stability is key to long-term success in permanent housing. The Coordinated Economic Development (CED) program connects adults with job and professional development training, and more.
